Sweet Symphonies of the Folle Journée
The Folle Journée is a weekend-long festival in Nantes where classical music, in all its varieties, enchants the city. For several years now, we have assisted KM in the broadcasting of this cultural event which has now gone global.
Our Millenium 8 truck was in the Nantes International Convention Centre and housed two production units to film the weekend's concerts, backstage and discussion show, all for ARTE.
Harmonious organisation
One of the difficulties presented by the filming of La Folle Journée is managing to juggle between several concerts, all tightly scheduled, in different places for different broadcasts, and to do so using only one truck. Our Millenium 8 truck and the team on site proved their skill and ability to adapt. For each concert, we deployed around 10 cameras and 7 for backstage and the discussion show that introduced the closing concert. While the concerts were first and foremost broadcast on ARTE Live Web, the closing concert on Sunday was broadcast live on ARTE. The production was realised in French and German simultaneously, which required translation booths to be put in place for the two languages and for the guests who were mainly English-speaking.
Here's to... American music
For its 20th anniversary, La Folle Journée of Nantes brought American music to the fore: classical music, swing and blues... One of the Folle Journée festival's secrets to success is making the music accessible to everyone, by putting on short and varied concerts. The success of this festival is such that the concept is rapidly finding a niche overseas and has already spread to six cities the world over.
