The G8 in Deauville: at the center of the world
For the international G8 summit, 3 vans were present to rebroadcast the events of the two-day summit: van 10, and the Enterprise and Millennium vans. An exceptional system has been set up for this global event.
Deauville was selected to host the G8 Summit presided by France, during which the issues of the African spring and the selection of the next IMF president will be discussed... The city exchanged its peaceful residents for an impressive population responsible for the security of the 8 largest economic powers in the world: the United States, Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, and Russia.
The AMP Visual TV Group implemented three systems to fulfill the specifications. The Millennium controlled shooting of the televised "events" for the international signal (27 triax beams + 2 RF). The Enterprise covered shoots in the 7 conference rooms with between 1 and 6 cameras each, at the Press Center. Lastly, van 10 was a standby system: 3 cameras if needed.
The particularities of this type of shoots are related to international political and security pressures that require rigorous preparation, discretion in operation, and flawless and continual adaptation to potential protocol changes.
107 operators contributed to producing the image and sound coverage for this event.
