The 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan (Russia)

kazan 2013

The Summer Universiade, the equivalent of the Olympic Games for universities the world over, took place in July in Kazan, a Russian city on the Volga. We took part in the recording of the maestro Valery Gergiev's performance for the closing ceremony.

In collaboration with the Russian channel Kultura and the French production company Telmondis, we lent our expertise to ensure the technical coordination of the local teams. Valery Gergiev's performance was therefore filmed by 10 cameras and broadcast live on Kultura and on Mezzo. Among the cameramen, three were from France. The production was carried out by the French director Vincent Massip.

The service we provided on this occasion reflects our regular support during filming of performances at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. Apart from technical coordination and human resources, we see to the adaptation of the equipment in order to perfect the Russian teams' skills. Our knowledge of the local players, acquired over the years, ensures true closeness between the teams and mutually enriching collaboration.

The Universiade is a festival of sport and culture of international scope which takes place in different cities every two years. Over the 12 days of the sports competitions, more than 9,000 student athletes and officials from over 170 countries compete in 13 disciplines. The competition is broadcast on over 100 television channels all over the world.

Our next engagement on Russian soil is set to be the coverage of the World Athletics Championships in Moscow from 10 to 18 August. We are carrying out RF coverage of the whole competition. Our production van, specially designed for this occasion, is currently being prepared in our workshops.
