AMP Visual TV

The 10 years of Ed Banger

Ed Banger 1

Ed Banger, the electronic music label, celebrated its 10th birthday at the Halle de La Villette on Friday 1 March. The streaming solutions developed by STREAMFACTORY meant that the interactive party could be enjoyed live around the world.

Our Extender 1 coach made good use of its modularity. For the Ed Banger party, the coach provided a streaming cell and web development cell, in addition to filming, so that the event could be broadcast live and in full on YouTube and SFR Live Concerts. 8 cameras, including two HF cams, were set up in the Grande Halle de la Villette. STREAMFACTORY then retrieved these signals and provided multiflow streaming. Because Music and YouTube developed applications on a dedicated player so that online viewers could experience an interactive show. Online viewers were able to make their own show by switching cameras, or simply watch the show as produced by our team in the Extender 1. The applications let viewers control the lighting, sound, or even take snapshots and share them on social media as if they were at the concert live.

STREAMFACTORY equipped a fibre-optic network connection with upload speeds of up to 100Mb/s. This meant that a high quality, fluid image could be broadcast at 720p HD for almost 10 hours of live performance across nine different flows.
An entire night's worth of production clearly requires excellent management of human resources. Two AMP VISUAL TV teams were needed to install equipment and film from 22:30 until 07:00, and to pack equipment away afterwards, with almost 35 technicians involved in all.
Ed Banger DJs celebrated their label's tenth anniversary by transforming the Halle de la Villette into a giant carnival. A carousel, intergalactic flight simulator, a three-floor fun house, and even a roller disco rink: there was a definite retro feel to the event attended by some 7000 thirty-somethings that came to feel the latest "French Touch".
