The magic of Disneyland Paris in full 4k: a world first

Shooting a broadcast with the cameras used in film, and better than ever before image quality? This type innovation, which is quickly becoming the norm for our teams, is what we have put to work with the teams at Disneyland Paris to promote the opening of the holiday season at the famous theme park.

Shooting a broadcast with the cameras used in film, and better than ever before image quality? This type innovation, which is quickly becoming the norm for our teams, is what we have put to work with the teams at Disneyland Paris to promote the opening of the holiday season at the famous theme park.

Just like for each of the prior shows, we have worked closely with Disneyland Paris to provide cutting edge images of the "Disney Dreams" evening show and the fashion show that opened this year's season.
The major aim of the show, organised by Disneyland, was to combine the optimum quality of cinematic images and the immediate responsiveness of broadcast productions. Indeed, the two objectives of this operation were to deliver an edited programme the next day, while also enabling later broadcasts and a beautyshot promotional film.

Using the latest 4k technology resulted in breathtaking images, together with high light sensitivity. This was a key aspect to filming the "Dreams" evening show.
Cameras were selected through close collaboration between Disney and AMP VISUAL TV. In the end, SONY F65 35mm digital cameras were decided upon, in combination with SONY HDC1500 and HDC 3300 "broadcast" cameras. All equipment was carefully checked before the event, meaning that installation took only a few hours.

Our Coach 6 provided mixing services for broadcast and cinema cameras, with the difficulty lying in making images from different sources appear uniform. Careful live calibration made this mixing possible.
The use of a special cable meant that the intercom network was ready to provide these cameras with all they needed to go live: orders, tally, and programme return.
The conclusive results achieved in this production were the result of complete synergy between all involved in the project, whether on the broadcast or cinema side. This ushers in a new era, and one in which we will play a major role.
