RF has its mettle tested at the Ski Classics
Yet again, our expert RF service is sought after abroad: we were chosen to retransmit the Ski Classics championship. For the first time, we are in charge of RF links for the various races in this long-distance cross-country skiing championship which takes place across Europe.
In order to report right from the heart of the Ski Classics races, 3 RF snowmobiles will follow the competitors. A helicopter equipped with a Wescam aerial camera ball will give viewers a wide-ranging view of each stage of the event. A relay plane will relay the different RF signals to the van specially equipped for this particular championship. The equipment must be thoroughly prepared to ensure it copes in the cold, snowy conditions before each stage commences.
Ski Classics is a long-distance cross-country skiing competition (of 50km or more) which brings together professional and amateur skiers. The concept was created during the 2011 season. In 2013, it has a total of 6 stages in the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, Norway and Sweden (where the two final stages are held). The next race takes place on Sunday 3rd February for the German stage, "KÖNIG LUDWIG LAUF".
