Eurovision Production Coordination (EPC), the host-broadcaster for this competition, brought in AMP VISUAL TV to work on two complementary assignments.
Technical Coordination
The first assignment made use of Services Factory (our consultancy department) for technical coordination. The aim was to coordinate all technical service providers working on the event, in line with the specifications set by EPC. This meant firstly developing and approving the technical production structure, and secondly building an effective relationship between service providers hailing from the world over. Two parallel pistes (Men/Women) with a shared finish line, 9 start lines, 2 races every day, and the need to transport equipment between the two pistes, filming shared across 3 OB trucks to cover both pistes, 70 cameras including 8 HD cameras, 2 Cablecams, 6 cranes, 800 fibre optic connections meant that this was a real technical challenge.
RF broadcasts and cameras
The second assignment, for RF Factory (AMP VISUAL TV's RF department), was to install all RF equipment for the international feed.
RF Factory is an EPC partner for three of its major events. After the World Athletics Championships in Moscow, there were the World Equestrian Games in Caen last year, and EPC again entrusted AMP VISUAL TV with providing RF services for the international feed.
For each stage, the equipment includes 1 camera at the start line, 3 cameras at the finish line in Beaver Creek (leaving at the end of the last race to head to the Vail medal area), 2 Cablecam cameras, and a beauty shot.
Working within the RF technical field, highly sensitive by nature, the RF Factory has developed an extremely high level of expertise, providing quality results that make it one of the international leaders in the field.
