AMP VISUAL TV in Brazzaville for the 11th African Games
From 4 to 19 September, the African continent's best athletes converged on Brazzaville, Congo, for the 11th African Games. It was an elite sporting event marked by friendship between African countries, and Lagardere Sports chose AMP VISUAL TV to film the Games and official ceremonies in their entirety.
For the duration of the competition, AMP VISUAL TV provided all filming, editing, broadcasting, power, and logistical resources, as well as the technical and artistic teams needed to produce images for the international feed. There were over 100 hours of live broadcasting with 27 football matches, 32 handball matches, 14 basketball games, 6 days of swimming, 5 days of athletics, 4 days of karate, 2 days of fencing, and the opening and closing ceremonies.
In total, a team of 125 staff, four mobile OB facilities, a post-production cell, two satellite transmission chains, and a swathe of cameras were set up across the various Games venues.
AMP VISUAL TV has been present in Africa for several years now, with branches in Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire, and is bolstering its presence on the continent with local recruitment and training for technicians. As it happens, the main operators working at the African Games were from Côte d'Ivoire, Morocco, and the Congo, and helped AMP VISUAL TV's French staff to run the technical resources.
The closing ceremony for the African Games was held on Saturday 19 September at Kintélé stadium in Brazzaville, which was erected especially for the Games with a capacity of 60,000 spectators.
