RED BULL Soapbox Race: just like the real thing!

Red Bull Caisses à Savons

Straight after Red Bull's public events, the Soapbox Race "event" took place on 7 July at Saint Cloud Park. A TV presence worthy of motor racing.

The idea behind this mad race: 44 teams, each more bizarre than the last, had to hurtle down a slope with an average incline of 20%, completing a 500 m circuit mapped out on the hill.
33,000 spectators took advantage of a beautiful sunny day to witness a spectacle combining ingenuity, humour and a party spirit!

On this 500 m track with its 20% average incline, Banijay Productions (video producer for big screens at the event, 52 minutes for W9 and the pre-editing for the press) had entrusted the production to Olivier Denis, a specialist in motor sports on the world's biggest circuits in particular. He had arranged the camera plan: 8 cameras, including 1 crane and 4 portable cameras, of which two were RF, and a slow motion device.

The soapbox racers had all the makings of a great race!
